Dampak Keberadaan Liturgi dalam Ibadah dan Impikasinya bagi Gereja Kristen Protestan Indonesia

Abstract

Liturgy is the means by which believers express their faith in God through prayer, praise, and other symbols of faith in ecclesiastical worship. In the context of Indonesian Protestant churches, especially GKI and GPIB, Liturgy not only functions as a structured worship system, but also becomes a spiritual medium that brings people to the experience of encounter with God. This article uses a literature study approach to explore the meaning, impact, and relevance of liturgy in worship. The results of the study show that liturgy has a strong transformative power towards the spirituality of the congregation, especially in the process of repentance, faith character building and union with Christ in the midst of the ever-changing church life. This research uses the literature review method as a descriptive qualitative approach. Through this method, the author examines various literatures related to worship practices in Protestant churches, especially GKI and GPIB. This study relies on academic works of liturgical figures, church documents, as well as historical and contextual reflections on the development of liturgy in the Indonesian reformed church. The aim is to explore the meaning of liturgy not only as a form of ritual, but as a means of forming congregational spirituality that is rooted in the heritage of the Reformation, but remains relevant to the current Indonesian cultural context. This study also pays attention to the dynamics of congregational spirituality, pastoral needs, and challenges.

Abstrak

Liturgi merupakan sarana umat percaya mengekspresiakan iman mereka kepada Allah melalui doa, pujian, dan simbol iman lainnya dalam ibadah gerejawi. Dalam konteks gereja protestan indonesia, khususnya GKI dan GPIB, Liturgi Tidak hanya Berfungsi sebaga tata ibada yang terstruktur, tetapi juga menjadi medium spiritual yang membawa umat kepada pengalaman perjumpaan dengan Allah. Artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka untuk menelusuri makna, dampak, dan relevansi liturgi dalam ibadah. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa liturgi memiliki daya transformasi yang kuat terhadap spiritualitas jemaat, terutama dalam proses pertobatan, pembentukan karakter iman dan penyatuan dengan Kristus di tengah kehidupan gereja yang terus berubah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kajian pustaka literature Review sebagai pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Melalui metode ini, penulis menelaah berbagai literatur yang berkaitan dengan praktik ibadah dalam gereja Protestan, khususnya GKI dan GPIB. Studi ini bertumpu pada karya-karya akademik dari tokoh-tokoh liturgi, dokumen gereja, serta refleksi historis dan kontekstual tentang perkembangan liturgi dalam gereja reformasi indonesia. Tujuannya adalah menggali makna liturgi tidak hanya sebagai bentuk ritual, tetapi sebagai sarana pembentukan ronani jemaat yang berkakar pada warisan reformasi, namun tetap relevan dengan konteks budaya indonesia masa kini. Kajian ini juga memperhatikan dinamika spiritualitas jemaat, kebutuhan pastoral, dan tantangan dalam implementasi liturgi di tengah modernitas.
